STEPPreview, currently being released as QuickSTEP, is a small tool for quickly previewing STEP files. It comes from a simple annoyance: a CAD file should not feel opaque just because you do not want to open a full CAD environment.

The goal is to make mechanical parts easier to inspect in the ordinary places where files already live: folders, messages, review flows, and handoffs. A good preview turns a filename back into an object.

I am using the release as a way to sharpen both sides of the work: the technical details of handling geometry cleanly, and the product details that make a utility feel immediate instead of heavy.
